We felt the need to spend some days into the wild after the crazy days in Barcelona, so we searched on the map for a quiet place, near the beach and far from civilisation and so, appeared the Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre, a delta region of the Ebro River located at the margins of Catalunya. We knew nothing about this area, so we had to discover it.

The closer you get to the south, the warmer the weather becomes... just perfect to spend a pleasant time near the beach. Ebro Delta is a protected area, so supposedly, it's forbidden to camp here, but when we arrived, a few motorhomes were already grounded on the beach and the Spanish guard just warned us to keep it clean.

Not bad for a December day
Biosphere in Ebro Delta
What a great area, with huge rice fields and an impressive variety of birds and extensive habitats. Many locals come here for fishing and make bicycle promenades, but for sure, during summer, this place is full of sun and beach lovers.

I love mornings! And during this trip, I really have a reason to love them...or for the time I've spent on the beach making exercises and jogging, or for simply waking up to witness some of the most spectacular dawns. I love the silence of the morning, I love to hear the wind blowing gently ashore, or the roar of the furious sea, or when from time to time, birds are circling us and Neko is arguing them :). This new life taught us to give more value to the nature, to its voice and get used with the silence and sometimes loneliness.
I also love mornings because it's breakfast time! haha.... from afar, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and luckily we have time enough to honor it properly :D.
Pink morning in delta
Toto and Neko enjoyed the most their time spent here, jumping and hiding among the sand bushes. We are still surprised at how well they have adapted with this life!... For example, when we are on the road, they are no longer afraid of the car's noise and movements, seems to have always been part of their lives and when they are outside, they explore the surroundings, but don't go too far from us, even Toto, prefers to stay closer to the van. So far, their adventures outside went very well and we are more relaxed when we leave them alone (you can read here about their tracking device collar).

Playing hide and seek on the beach
While you are in the delta, you can take a walk to the few miradoros and observe the crowd of ducks and flamingos which take shelter in the delta during winter.

We took the opportunity to prepare a barbecue on the beach and delight ourselves with a delicious sangria bought in the Spanish Pyrenees mountain. We rarely cook and consume meet, but when we get the chance to grill it outside, it gives really pleasure. Plus, seemed to be the perfect place to crack the almonds bought from a fair in France for a bargain (2.5 € for one kilo).
