Casa Guinart - from the stall directly into your plate

While you are in Barcelona, make a stop at the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria to delight your eyes with the richness of colors and the freshness of the products from the market and excite your papillae at the restaurant nearby, Casa Guinart.

To be honest, we've chosen this restaurant because, from pure coincidence, their user account started to follow us on Instagram a couple of days before arriving to Barcelona, so we could not stand in the way of fate :) And the choice was not at all disappointing!

Hidden from the hustle of the market, make sure you don't miss it!

Located in the heart of La Rambla street and right next to La Boqueria market, the restaurant gives you a warm and pleasant feeling since the entrance, far from the noisy streets and agitated market. Even if its location is right in the middle of the touristic hub, it doesn't really gives you this feeling, but more as a local tapas where you would go every Friday evening for a drink and good food.

Spread over two floors, you can choose to stay right at the bar counter to see the entire action unfolded in front of you or a quieter and wine cellar look-alike place on the second floor.

The interior of the restaurant

We've started with a delicious mix of Croquetas de Jamon Iberico (Iberian ham croquettes) and Croquetas de Bacalao (Cod fish croquettes) accompanied by a fresh and fruity sangria (we were starving, so we finished the appetizers before realizing that we didn't took a picture first). The staff was very attentive and prompt. The second course arrived immediately, although they informed that could take more time because of the Tapaella we ordered. While I delighted myself with this tasteful paella, Luis ordered 'Pescadito frito', a mix of seafood and sardines.

What we enjoyed the most was the freshness of the ingredients, picked up every day from the nearby market and the pleasant and unpretentious atmosphere that the restaurant has. I would say that the relation price - quality reached its target, taking into consideration that we are talking about a central restaurant in one of the most visited city in the world.
