Until two weeks ago we used the cat harnesses to walk with Toto and Neko outside, but we decided that it's time to give them more freedom, first, because they couldn't run freely as they would want to and the leash was always getting stumbled by the tree trunks or by the tall grass when they rotated all around and they even hung in the trees because of the leash, and second, it is also a relief for us since we don't have to wake up every morning at 7 o'clock to walk them, either wind or cold.
The adventures while using the harnesses
So we found the saving solution, LAPA, a bluetooth tracker device which connects to our phones and shows us if we are getting near them or alert us when they move away more than they should.
First time with LAPA
When they returned home
Since we were planning to spend a couple of weeks in a French camping near the boarder with Spain, we took the decision to experiment how LAPA works. In the first two days we continued to walk them with the harnesses, to let them explore the new territory with us and getting used with the surroundings. In the third day we've put the LAPA in action and we've been surprised how good they behaved. Neko is more docile and obedient, she is more cautious and not very adventurous, so she had barely moved from the surroundings of the car, yet enjoying her freedom and jumping from tree to tree. On the other hand, Toto likes to explore by himself and be the rebel teenager who has escaped from the parents' house, so for a couple of hours we didn't knew anything about him.
First thing they did when they got out from home was to climb in the nearest tree and enjoy the view
One must love the freedom
....or hide from it
Neither before they weren't great fans of the other cats, so they kept their anti-social status, except for a huge rabbit which Toto befriended him and visited every morning.
Friendship with caution
While Toto was gone in his expeditions, Neko started her explorations by following us everywhere like a puppy. When we were out to take the garbage... hop...there is Neko behind us.. when we were washing the dishes, again Neko behind our back... and if by chance you've leave her behind, she starts meowing in despair to come pick her up :)
Regardless they have spent their day separately from each other, they are always looking to play together and save each other's back when another cat it's around. It's really adorable their brotherhood relationship.
However, we are planning to keep the harnesses for a couple of days when we move to another location, to make sure that the place is safe for them and only after we'll leave them free.
